NATHAN NEWLAND
3D Model and Texture Artist
I am a student studying Visual Effects and 3d Animation at Media Design School. I'm am looking to move into the film visual effects industry.

I have also studied a Batchelor of Creative Technologies where I worked on four student game projects. I focused on modelling and texturing with a dash of project management. This is where I discovered my passion for digital 3d art.
Oasis
Oasis is a 3D platformer where the player navigates a series of puzzles in a tower while it crumples and falls around them.
I was responsible for the materials, layout and most of the modeling.
Exosense
Exosense is a two-player puzzle game that explores themes of cooperation, communication, and compromise and also explores the balance of power between individuals. We want our players to examine their dependency on eyesight and hearing, and we also want them to learn to balance their desire for control with the communication and compromise needed to achieve shared goals.
I did the materials, most of the layout and some of the modeling. This was my first time making a scene stylized so I had a new workflow for rocks and went back to the UE4 material editor for the materials as well as substance designer.
Project Kowhai
Project Kowhai is an educational game designed to indirectly teach players the basics of surviving in the New Zealand bush.

This was a second year university project and my first game. I designed the landscape and general environment, made some of the textures and was Project Leader.

After the semester I took the project to the ARVR Garage and converted it into a VR experience with updated lighting and textures.
Other Work
Smaller projects like props, architectural projects, university minor papers and general experiments
